Project Description

Many regions are rich in cultural heritage, but challenges like staff shortages and inadequate infrastructure limit engagement, reducing tourism, community involvement, and citizen opportunities. Our project will provide an online platform that allows users to manufacture and instantly deploy virtual tours quickly. Our XR tours aim to enrich real-life experiences by augmenting reality with media insights using XR and AI. Our methodology addresses this by collaborating with citizens in a pilot rural community to co-design the platform. A dedicated working group (ARGO-WG), which includes technical partners alongside local stakeholders—such as schools, municipalities, cultural and environmental associations, and tourism operators—will co-develop use cases. This initiative aims to bind rural community entities into a cohesive and empowering body through our ecosystem. It will have an active impact on the local economy, raise cultural awareness, and encourage greater citizen participation.

The following scores were calculated using a statistically-driven machine-learning approach, a type of AI that learns to perform a task by analysing patterns in data. This is an experimental approach to citizen-science impact assessment, and the exact reasoning behind the scores is not explainable. The scores represent a best guess of the impact the project is having in each domain. Scores are recalculated and updated when “View impact report” is clicked.
